Title: Quantum Metrology and Noisy N00N States

Abstract:

The main ideas of parameter estimation are shown. A derivation of the standard quantum limit and the Heisenberg limit from the Cramér-Rao bound is given. Further the optimality of the Heisenberg limit and its attainability in the presence of noise is discussed. Additionally a generalization of N00N states, so called noisy N00N states, are studied with respect to their phase sensitivity and entanglement properties. An outlook on quantum metrology with click-counting detectors is given.
