The International Physics Institute (IIP) in Natal has just opened the selection for post-doctoral fellowships. The various research topics with available positions at the IIP include Quantum Information and Foundations of Quantum Mechanics. The general announcement follows:
The International Institute of Physics of the Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte (IIP-UFRN) is expecting to fill several post-doctoral research positions. Successful candidates should demonstrate a high level of expertise and strong academic record working in the areas of Foundations of Quantum Mechanics, Quantum Information, Statistical Field Theory and Engineering of Quantum Devices; Strongly Correlated Electron Systems in Theoretical Condensed Matter Physics; Classical Gravity and Gravitational Wave Physics, String Theory and Mathematical Physics. Strong ability of a candidate to conduct an interdisciplinary research in those fields will be considered as an additional merit by the Selection Committee.
The starting date for the positions is expected to be in the period between October 2016 and March 2017. The post-doctoral appointments will be for two years (extendible to two more years depending on mutual agreement) with a tax free monthly salary of R$ 7.000,00 (seven thousand Brazilian Reais). Interested candidates should send their CV with a list of publications, research proposal and at least two letters of reference to Mr. Rodrigo Lopes (firstname.lastname@example.org). Priority will be given to applications received until October 1, 2016.
The IIP-UFRN is located in the city of Natal in the Northeast of Brazil. It is a research institute of an international character, focused on the theoretical research in the modern areas of fundamental physics.
Aiming at a leading role in the region, the Institute supports vast exchange, visitor and conference programs. It is also connected to the graduate program in physics of the UFRN, where it assists in providing excellence in post-graduate education in Brazil.
